# Innova Vantage - Alert System

## 1.0 - Introduction

The Innova Vantage Alert System provides customizable notifications to help monitor wells, drilling activity, anti-collision monitoring, and data exchange. Alerts notify users of key operational events, ensuring timely awareness and supporting better decision-making.

Users can configure alerts through the User Management section and Account Settings in Vantage. Each user can select the type of alerts to receive and choose the notification method.

**Important:** Alerts are only sent for wells that are both **active** and marked as **favourite**. Wells that are either inactive or not marked as favourite will not generate alerts.

This guide explains how to configure alerts in Vantage and details available alert types, notification methods, and severity levels.

## 2.0 - Prerequisites

Before setting up the alerts, users should verify that the well is marked as a favourite and is active. To do this:

1. Navigate to the [Wells Dashboard](https://vantage.innova-drilling.com/well-list) in Vantage.
2. Locate the well you want to receive alerts for.
3. Check if a **star icon** appears next to the well name and if the Status is Active.

<figure><img src="/files/fLq5nYZH6NSc4SzzozlY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. If the well is Active but there is no star next to the well name, you can mark it as a favourite by:

1\. Clicking the Account Settigns at the top right of the page and selecting *Favorites*

   <figure><img src="/files/QBDwgGKnOuwQ4bwLAIbU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2\. Select either Rigs or Operators by clicking the field, choosing the desired option from the list and clicking on ‘**Submit’**. The favourite list will be updated and the page will be refreshed to reflect the selected options.

**Note:** It is **NOT** possible to follow an individual well directly. Favourites can only be assigned at the Rig or Operator level.

## 3. 0 - Setup

Configuring and maintaining alerts requires an Admin user with access to User Management.

Alerts can be assigned in two ways:

* **Users** – Assign alerts to a specific user. Only this user will receive the alerts.
* **Roles** – Assign alerts to a role. All users associated with the role will automatically receive the alerts.

### 3.1 - Configuring alerts for a user

#### 3.1.1 - Users Page

1. Open the **main menu**.
2. Navigate to **User Management → Users**.

5. Users can copy alerts from another user profile by clicking the **‘Copy from Users’** button located in the ribbon menu. This will open a dialog where the user can select another user from a dropdown list, choose whether to **Append** or **Overwrite** the alerts, and then click **‘Copy Selected’** to save the new alert settings.
   1. **Append:** Copies all alerts from the selected user and adds them to the existing alerts for the current user.

### 3.3 - Alert Types

Innova Vantage supports seven alert types:

<figure><img src="/files/zMZNOWMuhXtSogU4RCLx" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Data Acquisition**: Notifications related to collecting and storing WITS data
* **Anti-Collision**: Alerts triggered by potential collisions.
* **Well Notifications**: Updates on well activity.
* **Drilling Parameters**: Alerts for key drilling metrics and thresholds.
* **Data Bridge:** Alerts for importing third party data activities.
* **Organization Notifications:** Alerts triggered by changes in Organization. This alert type is not tied to a specific well and does not need to have a favourite well linked to it.
* **BHA Notifications:** Alerts triggered by changes in BHA.

The Alerts dialog is separated into 2 grids. The alert types in the top grid and the alert details in the bottom grid. Selecting an alert will allow the user to add, edit or delete it.

<figure><img src="/files/1vO2iAh3KkPj8V6iDirW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If ‘Email’ is the notification method selected, user will receive the following notifications:

i. **Info:** Informational alerts, no immediate action required

<figure><img src="/files/eQ3Qs97dDCz0taCMrjjp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

ii. **Warning:** Requires attention but not urgent

<figure><img src="/files/yDRmwziqG7H1FwlLkt68" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

iii. **Critical:** Requires immediate action

<figure><img src="/files/INggMCjhVqQo27DCLbBD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Note:** Some alerts may only have **‘Info’** available in the **Severity** dropdown menu.

4. User may have more configurations to set in the alert, like Phase, Rig, Min and Max values, Use Min Depth, Use Max Depth, Include Projections and Send Once. Set these options as desired and click **‘Add’** to save the alert.

### 3.5 - Notification Methods

Users can see a red number close to the Alert Types that shows how many alerts ate set to each type. Once an alert is set, users can choose how to receive alerts:

* **Dashboard Notification** – Sends alerts directly to the Dashboard page.
* **Email Notification** – Sends alerts to the registered email address.
* **SMS Notification** – Sends alerts as SMS message to the registered phone number

Once the alerts are set and the notification method is selected, click in **‘Save’** in the ribbon menu to start receiving the alert notifications.

### 3.6 - Special Considerations for Anti-Collision Alerts

Anti-collision alerts rely on the configuration in the [**Anti-Collision Dashboard**.](https://vantage.innova-drilling.com/anti-collision-dashboard) Ensure that dashboard settings are properly defined to generate relevant alerts.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.innova-drilling.com/introduction/innova-engineering-how-to-guides/vantage-guides/innova-vantage-alert-system.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
