# 2.0 - Using the AG Grid Format

When data is presented in a table format in Vantage, it almost always uses the Agnostic Grid format, or AG grid for short. An example of an AG grid is highlighted in red in the screenshot below.

This section introduces the common functions available in AG grids in Vantage. Depending on the page being viewed, an AG grid may have additional options. See the chapter for the respective page for more information on page specific functions.

## 2.1 - Columns

Columns in an AG grid can be customised by clicking on the icon at the top of each column. This will open a context menu with the following options:

**Sort Ascending/Descending:** Will sort the table by the selected column. This can also be done by clicking on the column header title. **Clear sort** will reset either selection back to the default for the table.

**Sorting Multiple Columns:** Columns can also be sorted by clicking on the column header title. Holding the **Shift** key and clicking on multiple column headers will sort respecting the order clicked. The order is indicated by a number close to the column name:

**Pin Column:** Columns can be pinned to the left-hand or right-hand side of the table. When pinned, a column will remain visible when the table is scrolled to the right or left.

**Autosize This/All Columns:** Columns can be resized by left-clicking and dragging the edge of the column header. These options will automatically resize the selected column, or all columns, so that the data contained is fully visible.

**Choose Columns:** Opens the Choose Columns dialog, allowing the user to select which columns are visible, and their order. This dialog can also be accessed by clicking on the **Columns** option on the left hand side of the grid. Click on the checkbox beside each column to toggle it on or off. Left click and drag the icon up or down to change the order of the columns.

Columns can also be rearranged by left clicking and dragging the column headers.

**Reset Columns:** If the display or order of the columns has been changed in the Choose Columns dialog, selecting this option will reset the columns back to their default settings.

## 2.2 - Filters

Columns can be filtered by clicking on the icon in the column header. In the filter dialog that opens, click on the checkbox beside each field to display/hide it. Clicking on select all at the top will toggle all fields. The column filters can also be accessed by clicking on the **Filters** button on the left hand side of the grid. Click on **Apply** to apply your changes.

Most pages also have a search bar above the grid that can also be used to filter it. Enter a keyword or value, and the grid will filter to display rows that contain the keyword/value in one of their columns.

When one or more filter is applied to the grid, a **Clear Filters** option will appear in the top left corner. Clicking on this option will remove all filters from the grid.

## 2.3 - Editing, Adding & Deleting Data

Depending on the page currently being viewed, some cells in the AG grid are editable. If a cell is editable, you can do so by double clicking on the cell.

If the cell contains a simple text or number string, type in the new value and then press Enter on your keyboard to save your changes. Some cells are edited using a dropdown box. In this case, double click on the cell select the desired value from the list.

Some grids allow the user to enter new rows. This is done by entering data into the blank row at the bottom of the table, marked with a green **+** symbol. Double click on the cells in this row and enter/select the desired values. Once all of the required cells have data in them, the row will automatically be added to the grid. Any additional cells in that row can then be edited from within the grid.

Depending on the specific grid, rows can be deleted by clicking on the red dustbin icon to the left of each row.

## 2.4 - Right-Click Menu

Right clicking anywhere in the grid will display the AG grid right-click menu. This menu can contain multiple options that are specific to the page the user is currently viewing. The options described below are common to all AG grid right-click menus:

**Reset Columns:** Resets the column display and sorting of the grid back to the default for the current page.

**Reset Filters:** Removes all filters from the grid.

**Copy:** Copies the data in the selected cell. The user can left-click and drag to select multiple cells at the same time. The copied cells are stored in a table format, so they can easily be pasted into a program such as Excel.

**Export:** This option will export all of the data in the AG grid to an Excel file.

Additionally, almost all charts in Vantage can be saved as an image by right-clicking on the chart and selecting either **Save Image As** or **Copy Image (to Clipboard)**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.innova-drilling.com/introduction/innova-engineering-manual/innova-vantage-manual/2.0-using-the-ag-grid-format.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
