# 8.2.12 - WITS

The options in this section allow the user to open the Serial WITS, WITSML or MQTT WITS dialogs without needing to access the Slide Sheet. When accessed in this way the WITS data cannot be used to record the slide sheet or receive surveys, and is purely used to forward EDR data to the server.

The user should click on an actual well or survey in the Object Explorer and then click on one of the WITS options in the ribbon. To change which well is selected, the user should click on the new actual well/survey in the Object explorer and click on the desired WITS option a second time. The selected well can be seen in the status box.

Only one WITS reader can be opened at a time. The user cannot open a WITS reader via the Slide Sheet for the same well, if it already open in a reader via the Home ribbon, or vice versa.
