8.8 - Defaults

The Defaults ribbon allows the user to set their preferred formatting options for charts. Whenever a new chart is opened, or created in the Wall Plot Composer, it will comply to these defaults.

8.8.1 - Settings

Chart Border: Set the style of the border around the plot area.

Chart Legend: Defines where the chart legend is displayed, or if it is hidden.

8.8.2 - Grid Lines

Major Tick Interval: Set the default major tick interval for chart grid lines.

Minor Tick Interval: Set the default minor tick interval for chart grid lines.

Grid line style: Set the default grid line style.

X Axis Minor Grid Lines: Toggles the display of minor X-Axis gridlines.

Y Axis Minor Grid Lines: Toggles the display of minor Y-Axis gridlines.

Display Grid: Set which major grid lines are displayed - both, X only, Y only or none.

8.8.3 - Labels

Chart Text Size: Set the default font size text labels on the chart (well names, casing, targets, etc.)

Chart Numbers Size: Set the default font size for the numbers on the X and Y Axis.

8.8.4 - Tick Colour

Major Tick Colour: Set default major tick colour.

Minor Tick Colour: Set default minor tick colour.

Bold: Toggle this on to make gridlines bold by default.

8.8.5 - Series Colours

Survey Colour: Default line colour for surveys.

Actual Well Colour: Default colour for actual wells.

Plan Colour: Default colour for planned wells.

Principal plan colour: Default colour for principal plans.

Series line style: Set the default series lines style.

8.8.6 - Defaults

This section allows the user to set which chart elements are displayed on the chart by default:

Casing: Casing symbols, as defined by the Casing depth dialog (section 7.6).

Targets: Targets, as defined by the Targets dialog (section 7.7).

Offset Wells: Any offsets assigned to the reference well (section 8.2.6.4).

Well Names: Appends the name of each well/plan to their respective series lines.

Axis Scales: Displays the scale of the plot on each axis, defined as the unit length on the plot per unit length on the physical page.

Geosteering: The geosteering window, as defined in the Geosteering dialog (section 7.17).

Tether Lines: Adds tether lines to labels, pointing from the label to the relevant element on the plot.

Critical Points: Only displays on plans. A critical point is a point representing each line in the plan table.

Lithologies: Formation tops as defined in the Lithologies dialog (section 7.9).

Rig: Displays a rig symbol at the surface location of the reference well in section and 3d plots.

Only Show Plan: If this option is toggled on, displaying offsets will only show the principal plan for the reference well.

Casing Symbol Dot: Changes the casing symbol to a dot.

8.8.7 - Tolerance Circles

Only applies to Plan View and Spider plots. Inner and Outer tolerance circles are defined in the Actual Wellbore or Planned Wellbore dialog and are displayed at the surface location in the plot. These options allow the user to set the colour and line style of each circle, and whether they are enabled by default.

8.8.8 - 3D Chart

The options on this section only affect 3D charts.

Centre on survey: Toggles centre on survey by default.

Lease line curtain: Toggles whether lease lines have curtains by default, when they are displayed.

Start at top: Center on survey starts at the top of the well rather than the last survey.

Work Sight Settings: Opens a dialog where the user can select default settings for the work sight, which is displayed when centre on survey is enabled:

Show Work Sight: Toggles whether the work sight is displayed by default.

Show Compass Ring: Toggles whether the compass is displayed by default.

Work Sight Fill/Lines: Sets the default colour for the work sight lines and filled sections.

Compass Ring: Sets the default colour for the compass.

Labels: Sets the default colour of the text labels on the compass.

Work Sight Radius: Sets the total size of the work sight.

Work Sight Increment: Sets the increment for the inner circles in the work sight.

Line Thickness: Set the default thickness for the series lines for wells/plans.

Survey sphere size: Set the default size for the survey point markers on actual wells/surveys.

Fly down well sphere size: Set the default size for the fly down well sphere, when centre on survey is enabled.

Proximity: If this is toggled on, the proximity dialog will automatically open when the 3d plot is opened.
