8.9 - Chart Properties

This ribbon is only available when viewing a chart in the main viewing area. It allows the user to make some changes to the chart without having to open the full Chart Properties dialog.

8.9.1 - Wells

Offsets: Toggles the display of offset wells on the chart.

Only show plan: Hide all offsets except the principal well plan.

Show ellipses: Toggle error ellipses on/off.

8.9.2 - Targets

Show Targets: Displays any targets assigned to the reference well.

Target Names: Displays the names of any displayed targets and lease lines.

Drillers Targets: Toggles on the display of drillers targets. Drillers targets are created for individual targets in the Targets window (section 7.7)

Lease Intersections: Only available when viewing a plan view chart. If any well or plan crosses a lease line, an annotation will be added to the chart.

8.9.3 - Depth Labels

Show depth labels: Adds an annotation at each plan critical point or survey station on the reference well.

Inclination: Adds the inclination at each station to the depth labels.

Azimuth: Adds the azimuth at each station to the depth labels.

8.9.4 - Labels

Well Names: Adds an annotation displaying the name of each well and plan on the chart.

Casing: Adds casing symbols to the reference well and offsets, as defined in their respective Casing dialogs (section 7.6)

Geosteering: Only available when viewing an actual wellbore or survey in the section view plot. Displays the geo-steering window on the reference well, as defined in the Geosteering dialog (section 7.17).

8.9.5 - Objects

Rig: Displays a rig symbol at the surface location of the reference well in section and 3d plots.

Work Sight: Toggles on the work sight. Only available in the 3D Chart.

Tether Lines: Adds tether lines to labels, pointing from the label to the relevant element on the plot.

8.9.6 - Projections

These options are only available when viewing the Plan View chart, and require a lease line to be created for the reference well in the Targets dialog (section 7.7).

Intersection Projection: Adds a straight line projection from the last survey or plan station, that extends until it intersects all available lease lines. At each intersection point there is an annotation showing the distance (DIST) between the last station and the intersection point, as well as the Measured Depth, Noth/South, East/West and Vertical Section of the intersection point.

Perpendicular: Requires Intersection Projection to be toggled on. Changes the projection so that it now projects perpendicular to the last station instead of forwards. Each intersection is annotated as before. The forward projection is also displayed as a green line.

330’ Perpendicular: Requires Intersection Projection and Perpendicular to be toggled on. This option adds perpendicular projections to the forward projection line. These projections are positioned so that they hit the lease lines at a distance of 330 feet (100.584m) from the forward projection line.

8.9.7 - General

Screen Reader: Not available in 3D Charts. Enables the screen reader. The screen reader will display the co-ordinates of the current mouse position in the top left-hand corner of the chart. If the user clicks on the chart area, a red line will be drawn from the point which was clicked to the current mouse position. The distance between the current mouse position and the point at which the mouse was clicked will be displayed in the distance box of the screen reader, as will the angle (azimuth) between the 2 points. Turning the screen reader off will remove the red measuring line.

Properties: Opens the Chart Properties dialog. See section 9.11 – Chart Properties.

Select Offsets: Opens the Select Offsets dialog. See section 8.2.6.4 – Select Offsets.

8.9.8 - 3D

The options in this section are only available when viewing a 3D Chart.

Proximity: Opens the Proximity Chart dialog. See section 9.3.1 – Proximity Chart.

Centre on Survey: The centre on survey option zooms the chart and centres on a survey in the reference well. The user can then use the up and down arrow keys on their keyboard to move up and down the well. The chart will display survey information for the currently highlighted point in the well. For more information, see section 9.3 – 3D Chart.

Show Closest Approach: Requires centre on survey to be enabled. Draws a line between the reference well and the nearest offset well, labelled with the centre-to-centre distance between the two. The reference well can be changed using the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard, and the offset can be changed using the < and > keys.

8.9.9 - Depleted Zones

The options in this section are only available when viewing a 3D Chart.

Depleted Zones: If the reference well or any offsets have a depleted zone, this option can be toggled on to display the zone(s) on the chart. Depleted zones are set up in the Actual Wellbore or Plan Properties windows. If any depleted zones overlap, the overlap area will be shaded in red.

Print Report: This option is only available if depleted zones are displayed. If there are any places where two or more depleted zones overlap, the report will print a list of the surveys that are covered by the overlaps.
