Well Seeker X: Tool Inventory Tracking Hours
Background
In some cases, a user may need to duplicate a component in the Inventory. This typically occurs when a tool is on site, sent offsite for repair or maintenance, and later returned.
In versions of Well Seeker X prior to 3.0.2.10, the drilling and circulating hours for such a tool would continue accumulating as if it had remained on site throughout, which could result in inaccurate tracking.
Starting with Well Seeker X version 3.0.2.10, the Inventory dialog now automatically compares the component’s Date In and Date Out against the recorded BHA run times. Drilling and circulating hours are only assigned to components while they are physically on site during a BHA run.
This update allows users to reset drilling and circulating hours mid-job without losing historical data. For example, if a motor is sent to a workshop for servicing after a run and later returns to the rig, its hours can be accurately tracked for each period it was in use.
Example
This example follows a motor that is run in BHA #1, sent back to the workshop for servicing, and is then returned to the rig site and used in BHA #3.
Add motor to Inventory: At the start of the job, the user adds the motor to the Inventory, ensuring that the Date Arrived field is accurately filled.
Note: In practice, the Inventory would include all tools delivered to the job, but for clarity, we are only showing the motor.

Insert motor into BHA #1: While building BHA #1, the user inserts the motor using the Insert from Inventory option. This links the motor in the inventory with the BHA.

Record drilling activities for BHA #1: The user begins the drilling run with activity 6O: Pick Up BHA and ends it with 6P: Lay Down BHA. The software uses these activities to track BRT, drilling, and circulating hours and assigns them to BHA #1.
Send motor for servicing: After the run, the motor is sent to the workshop. The user updates the Inventory by filling the Date Left field and unchecking the On Location box.

Return motor to rig site: When the motor returns, the user creates a second entry in the Inventory using the same serial number. They fill the Date Arrived field with the return date and check the On Location box.

Insert motor into BHA #3: The newly serviced motor is used in BHA #3. When building this BHA, the user inserts the motor from the Inventory. The motor will appear twice in the dialog, but it does not matter which entry is selected.

Record drilling activities for BHA #3: The user records the run in daily activities, beginning with 6O: Pick Up BHA and ending with 6P: Lay Down BHA.

Inventory tracks hours accurately: The Inventory automatically matches the Date Arrived and Date Left entries with the BHA pickup and laydown times, distributing drilling and circulating hours correctly between the two entries for the motor.
