3.0 - Wells List

The Wells List page serves as the homepage of the Innova Portal and provides a summary of well activity for the organisation. It is split into three sections – the Map, Wells Counters and Wells List.

3.1 - Map

At the top of the list is the Map. This displays a plot of the wells in the organisation’s database on a Google Maps window. The map can be moved around by left-clicking and dragging, and can be zoomed in and out using the mouse wheel.

The user can hover over a well on the map for some extra information. Clicking on a well will select it and move to the Well Details page. If the map is zoomed out too far to distinguish between individual wells, the wells are clustered together with an icon that shows the number of wells in the cluster. Clicking on a cluster will zoom in, allowing the user to see individual wells.

Note: Google Maps uses it’s own co-ordinate reference system which usually will not match the CRS of the wells, so the location of wells on the Map will not exactly match their true location.

The Map can be customised in the Map Preferences section of the Main Menu, which can be accessed by clicking on the icon in the top left of the Web Portal.

In the Layers subsection the user can toggle on additional geological and geographical information on the Map. The Shale Play Layer and Conv (Conventional) Play Layer toggles display their respective oil play areas on the Map. The user can hover their cursor over these layers to see their names. Additionally, they can toggle on state and county borders using the State Layer and County Layer toggles.

In the Well Status subsection, the user can change which wells are displayed on the Map in the Wells List window. By default, only Active wells are displayed, but the user can also toggle on wells with Upcoming and Standby status.

3.2 - Wells Counters

To the right of the Map is the Wells Counters. These counters tally the wells in the organisation’s database according to three criteria, set out below. The user can hover over each section in the Wells Counters to get more information.

Active Wells: Shows the number of wells in the organisation’s online database with the Active, Standby, Upcoming or TD status.

All Wells: Shows all wells in the organisation’s online database. If the Show All Wells option in the Main Menu is turned off, this will only show wells with the Active, Standby, Upcoming or TD status.

Wells per Operator: Shows the number of wells in the organisation’s online database, divided up by the operator that the wells belong to. If the Show All Wells option in the Main Menu is turned off, this will only show wells with the Active, Standby, Upcoming or TD status.

3.3 - Wells List

Below the Map and the Wells Counters is the Wells List. This displays the wells on the organisation’s online database, grouped by operator. As with the Well Counters, if the Show All Wells option in the Main Menu is turned off, this will only show wells with the Active, Standby, Upcoming or TD status.

The list can be filtered by entering text into the search bar at the top of the list. Clicking on a well in the list will select it and move to the Well Details page. The Wells List also has a few functions that allows the user to edit some well information. These functions are detailed below:

Change Well Status: Opens the Change Well Status dialog. To change the well status, the user should select the new status from the list and click on the Submit button. Note that, depending on the new status, this can cause the well to disappear from the list if Show All Wells is not turned on in the Main Menu.

It should also be noted that only Active wells can accept data from a rig site via the Data Exchange service, so care should be taken when changing the status of wells that are currently being drilled

Edit Well Info: Opens the Edit Well Info dialog. This dialog allows the user to edit information associated with the well operation, such as the Job #, API #, etc. It also allows the user to edit service companies and personnel employed for the operation.

The Rig, DD Coordinator and MWD Coordinator fields are set using a dropdown box. The available names are set in the Rig Names page (Section 13.0 - Rig Names) and the Personnel Names page (14.0 - Personnel Names).

WITS Transfer (WT) & Data Exchange (DX) Status: If the rig site is uploading WITS and/or Real Time Data Exchange data for this well to the server, these indicators will turn green.

WITS transfer is used to send raw drilling parameters and allows for the EDR feature to be used. The Real Time Data Exchange is used to automatically update survey and daily reporting data on the server.

Well Name: The name of the well as set in the organisation’s remote server database. This cannot be changed from within the Web Portal interface.

Job Number: The organisation’s internal job number for the well. This can be changed using the Edit Well Info dialog.

Drilling Rig: The drilling rig used to drill the well. This can be changed using the Edit Well Info dialog. The list of available rigs is set in the organisation’s remote server database.

State: The US state in which the well is being drilled. This can be changed using the Edit Well Info dialog.

County: The US county in which the well is being drilled. This can be changed using the Edit Well Info dialog.

Operator: The operator for the well as set in the organisation’s remote server database. This cannot be changed from within the Web Portal interface.

Well Status: The status of the well, which can be changed using the Change Well Status dialog.

Target Formation: The formation being targeted for production. This can be changed using the Edit Well Info dialog.

Additional Info: Clicking on the arrow symbol on the right of the selected well’s row will expand the row to show some additional info for the well. This includes personnel, phase, BHA number, 24-hour summary and 24-hour lookahead. This information is taken from the most recent daily report for this well uploaded to the server.

This option is not available if the Show All Wells option in the Main Menu is toggled on.
